The GEM Program Kick-off Meeting was successfully held on 27 June, 2023

The Global Estuaries Monitoring (GEM) Program Kick-off Meeting was held on 27 June, 2023 through ZOOM. All the team members and more than 100 collaborators participated in the meeting. Prof. Kenneth Leung, the principle investigator of GEM Program, gave a report on the introduction of this program. Adedipe Demilade, a PhD student from Nigeria, presented a review on pharmaceutical contamination in the world’s estuaries. Qiong Luo, a PhD student from China, introduced the development of standard methods for sampling and analysis. Chong Chen, a postdoc from China, introduced the guidelines for the first phase of sampling. Participants had a heated discussion on sampling details and other issues.

In the next step, the working group of GEM will contact the individual participants in batches to discuss the exact sampling campaign.
