Call for Abstracts - BECoME 2025

In the summer of 2015, the First International Conference on Biodiversity, Ecology, and Conservation of Marine Ecosystems (BECoME) was launched in Hong Kong, China. Since then, the BECoME conference series has gradually become a global platform for knowledge exchange in the field of marine biodiversity and ecology, and for addressing pressing challenges in marine conservation. BECoME-2015 brought together 280 participants from 26 countries, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and knowledge sharing. The second BECoME conference was endorsed by UNESCO as a Decade Activity of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development and successfully held in hybrid mode at City University of Hong Kong in 2022, with 340 attendees from 33 countries, further expanding its international influence.

Building on the success of the past two BECoME conferences, we are pleased to announce that the third BECoME conference will be held at CityUHK on 19-23 August 2025. BECoME-2025 has been approved as a Ocean Decade Activity and will be a part of celebrating China’s National Ecology Day. This conference will focus on key themes such as marine conservation strategies, biodiversity databases, sustainable fisheries, climate change impacts, and marine protected areas, continuing to promote professional knowledge exchange, foster research collaborations, identify knowledge gaps, train young professionals, and seek expert advice on marine biodiversity conservation and fisheries management.
